Happy Anniversary Tasha!

June 7, 2010

A big thank you and congratulations to our Director of Client Services, Tasha Beard today!

Tasha is celebrating her 10th anniversary with AtHomeNet today.  When Tasha started with us, she was THE graphics department, THE  production department, THE support department and we even sent her to tradeshows to do Sales.  Without Tasha’s hard work and dedication, the company would not be the success it is today.  We’re proud to have her as part of Senior Management and grateful to have her as  part of the AtHomeNet Family.

If you happen to talk to Tasha today, be sure to congratulate her on this milestone anniversary!

March was a great month for AtHomeNet!

April 2, 2010

In March, we broke our sales record, welcoming lots of new management company websites, community websites and organization websites to our family!  You will have the opportunity to get to know them over the next few months as they appear here on our blog as the “Client of the Day”.

We also released many new features and enhancements for both our Classic and ELITE websites!

Some of the things were most excited about:

-          AtHomeNet Classic websites now have avatars (profile pictures) on the message boards, creating a more personalized experience for website users.  We have also introduced over 25 new email bulletins!!

-          AtHomeNet ELITE websites have received several updates that will enhance your website by making it even easier to navigate!

-          AtHomeNet GoMobile, our newest service, now has an Email Bulletin feature!  You can now send email bulletins from your mobile device to alert residents of facility closures, important events and more!

If you would like to learn more about What’s New, visit www.AtHomeNet.com or give us a call today!

New AtHomeNet Graphics artistAtHomeNet has truly “bloomed” after those April showers…figuratively speaking!  We continue to surpass company goals and client satisfaction with the great team of Sales, Support and Web Designers.  Today, I am proud to announce that we have yet another designer added to our Graphics team.  We are so happy to continue to see our company thrive in these economic times.  It’s been so awesome to be able to add a talented designer with fresh creativity.  Good things are certainly in store for those new and existing clients who want to start the summer off with a new look!

A productivity boost for computer users

October 24, 2008

After reading articles and hearing from others about the benefits I finally broke down and upgraded to DUAL MONITORS for my main desktop computer two days ago.

I must say that even in that short amount of time I am getting a sense that this is something that really does increase my daily productivity.  I had read a study by Microsoft Research that found productivity increases of between 9% and 50% had been seen doing typical daily computer tasks.  I can’t put an exact number on it myself but the first big benefit I find is being able to keep two full-screen applications open at once for easy multi-tasking, such as working in OneNote or Microsoft Project for project planning while still keeping an eye on my Outlook (you have to be careful about this because checking your email can be a HUGE time sink if you are not careful – more about that in a future post).  The second area this helps in is when I am programming (I definately have to shut Outlook down for that).   I actually stretch my development program (Microsoft Visual Studio 2008) across both monitors and that allows me to open up all the toolbars and explorers I need to use and still easily see all the code without having to scroll back and forth.  It’s great.

So, in summary, if you spend a significant portion of your day sitting in front of a computer like I do (even if it isn’t programming), I would highly recommend you invest the money (and LCD monitors are really dropping in price these days) to set yourself up with two identical monitors and set your Operating System to stretch your desktop across both of them.

If you are doing this and have any suggestions or stories about how this is helping (or not helping) you work, post them in the comments.
