Collecting Quality Client Testimonials

shutterstock_258281702Quality client testimonials are a great way to gain the trust of new customers. People are more likely to trust what other customers have to say about you than what you have to say about yourself. If you are having trouble with your testimonials, check out these four tips.

Find the Right Clients
Client testimonials are only helpful if they are part of your target audience. If your target audience is young families with children, and you have a bunch of testimonials from 20-something bachelors, your target audience isn’t going to care what they have to say when it comes to promoting the neighborhood. In fact, it could do the exact opposite of what you want, and make your target audience think you aren’t right for them.

Make Sure You Already Know the Answer

When asking for client testimonials, you want to already have an idea of what they’ll say. This is because you don’t want to put up a testimonial that is complaining about your services. Don’t just choose someone because they have worked with you for a long time or they throw a lot of business at you. Choose someone who you know is happy with the services you’ve provided.

Have Them Be Specific

You’ve probably read reviews online for products and services. When you read one that says, “this product is great,” it isn’t very helpful. A lot of products are great. What does the product do for customers? How is it different? When asking for testimonials from clients, ask them to be specific. Have them explain why they liked your company, and how you specifically helped them.

Show Off Your Testimonials

Of course, you don’t want to hide your testimonials. Show them off. Make them easy to find. Post them on your community management website and direct potential customers to them. Also, have them in logical areas. For example, if you have a section of your website that talks about customer service, and you have a glowing testimonial that raves about your customer service, put the testimonial there.

Show off your company and what you can do with direct quotes from previous and current customers. It’s the best way to make people see how your business can help them.
